What’s your role with Gochkeys?
As an Associate Recruiter, my job is to work closely with our commercial team and even more closely with our clients to provide them with exceptional candidate options as fast as possible. Once we have an agreement, I:
Meet with clients and explore their hiring needs in depth.
Create custom job descriptions for each search.
Research hundreds and select tens of very well-qualified candidates for each search.
Contact each candidate I research.
Personally interview as many candidates as I can.
Submit to our clients as many very well-qualified candidates (I’ve interviewed who are now interested in our clients) as fast as possible in our proprietary 10-point interview format.
Follow up with our clients for their initial feedback.
Schedule and prep candidates and clients for each step of the interview process.
Debrief and review each step afterward with candidates and clients.
Let candidates know they’re not the right fit on the client’s behalf.
Complete reference checks.
Champion my clients and candidates finding a successful offer.
Train my candidates on the best way to resign and support them as they transition to their new roles.
Boy, that sounds like a lot. Do you like it?
Hahaha, I do. Sure, some days it is a lot. But my role is to make friends with bright, interesting people who are on the cutting edge of medical device technology, so I often find myself actually wishing there were more hours in the workday. Plus, Gochkeys is amazing at empowering me to get my job done as quickly as possible — I love working in a new office and using state-of-the-art technology like ChatGPT, Bard, and LinkedIn Recruiter, and my flexible schedule allows me to talk to you when you like and still be an awesome mom.
What originally attracted you to working at Gochkeys?
With an undergrad in English & education and a master’s in Spanish language and literature, I spent the first part of my career teaching Spanish for my alma mater. After a decade I learned I loved teaching, but I no longer felt the teacher’s schedule was a good fit for my young family. When Josh Schukas — one of Gochkeys’ founders and an old friend — reached out to me about the flexibility and rewards of recruiting, the rest was history.
What’s got you excited about Gochkeys’ future?
Oh man, so many things. We’re becoming regulars at the Medical Device & Manufacturing trade shows, which is not only great for me learning more about the industry but is also giving me an epic collection of pens. I love automation and Gochkeys is very open to my projects, so it continues to be rewarding to feel like I’m making a significant contribution to our growth. And, my next promotion (and higher commission bracket) to Senior Recruiter is in sight, so fingers crossed you’ll see a blog post about me soon.
